Thanksgiving is a time for us to remember all that we are thankful for. Your Life Book writing assignment this week is to write about what you are thankful for. Write at least 4 sentences and tell why you are thankful. Be sure to begin your sentences with a capital letter, end with proper punctuation, and leave spaces between your words. Practice reading your Life Book so you are ready to share it with the class.

This week we will not be having Scootpad math homework or Life Books. I will be sending home a practice/review for our upcoming Math test. Our math test will be on Thursday. The students will also have their part for our upcoming Thanksgiving Program. Please help them practice reading it. They do not need to memorize their part, but read it accurately and fluently. Invitations for our Thanksgiving Program went home on Thursday. The Thanksgiving Program will be on Friday, November 22 at 8:30 am. All family members are invited. Last week we had our first Nate Mack Farmer's Market. The students helped harvest the crops in our school garden, make the sign, and sell our produce. We sold daikon radishes, onions, black eye peas, nasturtium, rosemary, parsley, arugula, dill, edible flowers (marigolds), glass gem corn, and cherry bell radishes. We made $57.25 which will go to our garden fund. Thank you to everyone who purchased produce from our school garden. Check out the Nate Mack Facebook page to see all the wonderful meals that people made with the produce. Some Reminders:
This week’s Life Book assignment is to write about your favorite book.
Life Books are due by Friday. It has been a busy week in Room 11. We learned about Spiders this week by reading books, listening to books, and writing about them. The Students have learned to use a new program called MyOn. MyOn is an on-line digital library from Capstone books. Students have access to over 1700 books online anytime, anywhere! These books are in full color and the students may choose to have them read to them or read them alone. The students have taken an interest inventory and a brief quiz to determine which books are just right for them. Each student has their own personal library available 24/7! Students can login into MyOn at home by going to the Nate Mack website, Student Hub, and then MyOn. The student's user name and password is their Student Number (just like Scootpad). Students can use these books as their 15 minutes of nightly reading.
We also celebrated Halloween! It was fun seeing everyones costumes. On Halloween we did special rotations where the students got to go to the other first grade classrooms and do a special activity. We learned about Halloween Safety, learned a new math game, completed a Five Sense activity by touching things, and listened to a Halloween story. It was a lot of fun! In the afternoon we participated in the Halloween Parade and we got to see even more fun costumes. On Friday night there was the Harvest Festival after school. It was nice seeing so many families come and support our PTO. The money raised goes directly back to the school. So a big THANK YOU!! to everyone who came out Friday night. Some Reminders:
