In math we have been learning to add two numbers by counting on. When you count on to add, you start with one number and then count to find a total. This strategy helps your child find the number of objects in a group without having to count every object.
I writing, we have continued to write complete sentences with capitals, spaces, and punctuation.
Sight Words List 1 went home with your child last week. Please have your child practice reading the words out loud. They should be able to read them within 3 seconds. If they are able to read all 20 words, then have them practice spelling the words. Students will be checked to see if they can read the words on Thursday, They must pass the list at 80% to move on to List 2.
Scootpad log in information is coming home soon. I will be sending home the information after Labor Day.
The students were so excited to share the covers of their Life Books. Every week your child will bring home their Life Book. They will have a writing prompt for homework. Your child may use photos or drawings to add to their writing. The Life Book needs to be returned by Friday in the Ziploc Bag. We will be sharing their writing and pictures in class. Thank you for your participation. The kids just love their special books and we will surely see a love for witting increase.
Mrs. Ryan, the school counselor, stopped by Room 11 to help us learn about Kelso's Choices. Kelso's Choices help students to solve small problems. She discussed the difference between small problems and BIG problems.

Please take a look through your child’s folder nightly and take out any papers that are not needed. Purple folders should be sent to school everyday with their behavior log inside.
